Santa Paula looks to transform 'gateway' property

View Comments
Santa Paula leaders are looking to transform a 2-acre property that is the gateway to the city from the east.
The City Council on Wednesday discussed restaurant, hotel and office building options for a piece of property east of Hallock Drive between Telegraph Road and Highway 126 that was once slated for a fire station.
Council did not make a decision but will bring the item back. Options discussed included a Starbucks drive through, a Chick-Fil-A or Chipotle restaurant and drive through, an office building and even a hotel, according to city-funded analysis.
It s an exciting opportunity for us, said Santa Paula City Manager Dan Singer.  The one asterisk is it will take more time. This is too important of a piece of property to do something hastily and then regret it. ....
