DHARWAD: The Dharwad district administration has extended full lockdown till June 7. The decision comes in the wake of district minister Jagadish Shettar holding a meeting with top officials in Hubballi on Sunday.

DHARWAD: Literary events, which were paused for almost a year owing to Covid-19 pandemic, resumed on Sunday with the inauguration of the eighth Dharwad taluk Kannada Sahitya Sammelana in Itigatti village.
The entire village was decorated with yellow and red, the colours of the Kananda flag. Schoolchildren, college students, women, men, writers and literature lovers thronged the village.
An attractive procession carrying Sammelana president Ninganna Kunti was taken out through the main road in Itigatti. Over 100 rural women carrying the traditional kumbha on their heads led the procession. Folk dances like ‘dollu kunita’ and ‘hejje mela’ were performed by over 10 teams.
