Usually, vehicle-lifter gangs dispose of the vehicles stolen from Chandigarh in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. It is for the first time when a gang involved in disposing of vehicles in J&K was busted.

The gang was busted when one of the members, Aslam, was caught red-handed stealing a Swift in Sector 38 on December 17.

WWF to make integrated master plan of Sukhna Lake wetland
Sukhna wetland is spread over 565 acres. The catchment area of Sukhna wetland, spreading over 10,395 acres as finalised by the Survey of India, includes 2,525 acres of Haryana and 684 acres of Punjab.

World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) will make an integrated master plan (IMP) of Sukhna Lake wetland conducting field surveys, including avian surveys, Rapid Assessment of Wetland Ecosystem Services (RAWES) assessment, and socio-economic survey along with drafting of different chapters of IMP within 15 months. The survey will be completed in March 2022. ....

Green activists along with tree lovers from Tricity Saturday gathered in solidarity with 700 trees to be felled for the construction of a flyover on Dakshin Marg raising slogans of “Don’t Kill Only 700” .
Over 75 activists, including students, retired bureaucrats, social activists and environmentalists, gathered holding banners of saving trees at Sector 29 roundabout. The zoo had been shut for the last nine months since March 17. All visitors bought tickets through cashless modes including online booking, swipe machines, using QR codes at the fee counters.

The daily cap on the number of visitors allowed into the zoo in light of the pandemic is 2,700, in three shifts.
Around 11,000 people have visited the Mahendra Zoological Park Chhatbir Zoo in Chandigarh since it was reopened on December 10. Zoo authorities said that “thousands” were refused entry due to Covid restrictions, according to not more than 2,700 could be allowed in, in three shifts each day. ....
