Officials with Scioto Downs have issued a release to horsepeople regarding the track's qualifier and draw schedule.

With the scheduled date of the 2022 Pepsi North America Cup just over two months away, Trot Insider will profile some of the race's top contenders as horses ready to compete for one of Canadian harness racing's biggest prizes.

Mike Wilder is enjoying his second winter working with young horses in Florida, and the emphasis is on the word “enjoying.” The 49-year-old Wilder has driven in only one race since November 5, which was a fourth-place finish with Fourever Boy in the Governor’s Cup at The Meadowlands.

Aaron Merriman again topped the local driving ranks at Northfield Park in 2021, while Sam Schillaci earned the title as Northfield's top trainer for the season.

Scioto Downs announced a major project to build a new grandstand for its track on Thursday.
