DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Decatur City Council officially hired Tim Gleason as the next City Manager Monday night.
The council also voted to approve Gleason's generous compensation package, which includes a $230,000 base salary, six weeks of paid vacation and up to 20 sick days.
The action comes about a month after residents and council members laid waste to changes approved last year to the city's waste hauling ordinance.
Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe is expected to announce the appointment of a new city manager on Thursday.
Bloomington City Manager Tim Gleason is leaving after nearly six years to take the same job in Decatur, a position he previously held from 2015 to 2018.
