One of Mackay’s fastest growing sports could be squeezed out of its current location in the name of progress but there’s a glimmer of hope for a workaround. The Mackay Touch Association’s three showcase fields could be resumed as Stage 2 of the Mackay Ring Road project gets under way. The 9.5km, two-lane road would connect the Bruce Highway to the Port of Mackay, with the earmarked route running along the existing rail line at the back of the touch fields near Norris Rd in North Mackay.
