The High Court held that proviso to Section 24 of RTI Act is applicable to CBI and its purpose is to provide information on human rights violations and corruption.
The Court said that information relating to money laundering, hawala money transactions, acts of tax evasion and smuggling do not relate to corruption or human rights violations.
The division bench called attention to the object of the RTI Act that disclosure was the norm and withholding of information was the exception.
