Japan's weather agency urges residents from the country's north-to-west regions facing the Sea of Japan to be vigilant of further heavy snow after many vehicles were left stranded.
NAGOYA--Record-breaking snow stalled traffic on the Meishin Expressway in Gifu Prefecture for about 19 hours until the stranded vehicles were cleared at 4 a.m. on Jan. 25.
Japan is currently being hit by its strongest cold wave this season, with snowfall extending from Hokkaido to Kyushu, causing widespread chaos, including a severe traffic jam on the Meishin Expressway with vehicles stranded for over 6.6 kilometers.
Record snowfall across central Japan which caused a major traffic jam on the Meishin Expressway, with vehicles stranded for over 6.6 kilometers, has been resolved after 18 hours of virtual standstill.
