The Governor signed a disaster declaration in response to fire activity throughout Texas, amending the original declaration to include Somervell County among 10 new counties.
About a half-inch of rain fell on the Mesquite Heat Fire area Tuesday, when Gov. Abbott visited View. The wildfire was at 63% containment Wednesday.
"There is no force of nature more powerful than Texans helping Texans, and together we will rebuild communities affected and help them come back stronger than before," said Governor Abbott.
