The National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces is set to dispatch 101 new ‘blue-helmet’ troops from the explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit to the Central African Republic in December.
The Royal Cambodian Armed Forces (RCAF) is determined to maintaining, for each troop dispatched to UN peacekeeping missions, the professional credentials recognised by the international organisation’s officials in the host state, according to a defence ministry spokesman.
The UN in Cambodia has expressed its appreciation for the continued support of the Kingdom to the UN’s peacekeeping operations. Cambodia is in August to send an additional 98 troops from an explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) unit as UN “blue helmet” peacekeepers to the Central African Republic (CAR) to deal with landmines, unexploded ordnance (UXO) and improvised explosive devices.
The National Centre for Peacekeeping Forces (NPMEC) on May 26 commemorated the International Day of UN Peacekeepers, in recognition of their service and sacrifice and to honour the memory of those who had lost their lives in the course of peacekeeping.
