India News: NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court on Monday directed Maharashtra speaker Rahul Narwekar to decide the cross-petitions filed by the rival factions of the Sh.

The speaker of the Maharashtra Assembly, Rahul Narwekar, has issued a schedule for the disqualification petition against Shiv Sena MLAs. The schedule includes dates for replies, arguments, hearings, and submission of documents. The Uddhav Thackeray camp is unhappy with the lengthy schedule and believes it is a tactic to delay the process. This comes after the Supreme Court asked the speaker to set a schedule for the hearings. Aaditya Thackeray, a member of the Uddhav faction, criticized the speaker for protecting the unconstitutional government through delay tactics.

The Maharashtra Speaker will hear the disqualification case against 16 Shiv Sena MLAs, including chief minister Eknath Shinde, on October 13. The Uddhav group argues that evidence is not needed as the details of the case are clear. The Shinde group wants separate hearings for each MLA, which the Uddhav group sees as a delay tactic. The Speaker will decide on October 13 whether the hearings will be conducted as a group or separately. The Supreme Court has asked for a prompt decision.
