Australian man Richard Pusey was sentenced to 10 months in jail after being convicted of “outraging public decency” when he filmed four dying officers following a crash last year.

The sentence sparked immediate public outrage among people who considered it too lenient, Australia’s Nine News reports.

The 42-year-old Pusey was pulled over last year for speeding down a highway in his Porsche. As four Victoria police officers prepared his arrest, the driver of a semi-trailer swerved out of its lane and struck all four of them.
Pusey, who was several feet away from the others, was not struck. He did remain on the scene of the accident for several minutes, however, filming one of the officers in her final moments.

The brother of a slain policeman has choked back tears while slamming Richard Pusey - the Porsche driver who filmed four officers as they lay dying after a horrific crash. 
Pusey had been pulled over for speeding at 149km/h in his Porsche on the Eastern Freeway in Melbourne when a truck driver crashed into the emergency lane on April 22 last year.
Leading Senior Constable Lynette Taylor, Senior Constable Kevin King, and Constables Glen Humphris and Josh Prestney died in the crash. 
Instead of helping, Pusey retrieved his phone and slowly walked around and filmed the scene, zooming in on the dead and dying officers and their injuries.

Grieving families of the officers killed in the Eastern Freeway tragedy have blasted the punishment handed down to speeding Porsche driver Richard Pusey.
Pusey has been jailed for just 10 months after filming dying and dead police officers in the aftermath of the truck crash, while remarking "that's justice".
The sentence could mean Richard Pusey, 42, will walk free, having already spent 296 days behind bars on remand. He has another six days to serve under the sentence.

Richard Pusey pleaded guilty to a rare charge of outraging public decency and other offences after
filming the crash on the Eastern Freeway in the Australian city of Melbourne on 22 April last year.
But, having spent 296 days in custody, his sentence could be complete within days.
Pusey, a mortgage broker and property developer, had been pulled over for driving at 149kmph (92mph) and the officers had been discussing impounding his vehicle when they were hit by a truck.

The husband of one of four Australian police officers killed in last year’s horror crash on a Melbourne freeway has criticised Porsche driver Richard Pusey’s 10-month sentence over filming his wife as she lay dying as inappropriate and inadequate.
Pusey needs to serve only a handful more days in prison after a judge ruled his 10 months in custody already fulfilled the length of his sentence.
County Court judge Trevor Wraight sentenced Pusey on Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to the rare charge of outraging public decency for filming the aftermath of the crash on April 22 last year, plus other charges, after the four officers were hit and killed by a truck in Kew.
