ASTANA. KAZINFORM A 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Türkiye and Syria in the early morning of February 6 with disastrous consequences followed by powerful aftershocks. Search and rescue operations are ongoing for an entire week. The human losses surpassed 31,000 in Türkiye, on course to become Türkiye’s deadliest Izmit earthquake in 1999, when a powerful tremor killed more than 17,000.
