He was born October 23, 1944 in Steubenville, the son of the late John D. Hughes and Illeen (Snyder) Hughes. Gary was a member of the St. Francis Roman Catholic Church of Toronto; was a 1963 graduate of Toronto High School; was an avid fisherman and hunter.
