Much-awaited clarity on the denotification process for special economic zones is good news for commercial real estate sector, but permission for denotification is subject to certain conditions and the benefits won't accrue immediately.

Accordingly, it is "clarified" that imports of these products by SEZ units "are outside the purview" of the July 12 notification, the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) said.

Goyal told news agency ANI, “We’ve decided to allow work from home in all SEZ sectors as a request for it has come from many quarters. It’ll create employment opportunities in small cities and increase the exports of services.”
According to the new notification, employees of the IT/ ITeS SEZ units, employees who are temporarily incapacitated, travelling, or working offsite are covered under this.
