Man who drove from Southampton to Wiltshire to buy food is handed fine
Officers stopped the vehicle on the A360 in Potterne at around 1am yesterday (February 1). The driver, a man in his 30s, admitted he was "just out for a drive" and to get some food from a shop. He was handed a fixed penalty notice for breaching the Covid-19 lockdown, as well as a £100 fine and three points on his licence for having a defective tyre. The car was also seized for having no tax.
