Coroner s jury reaches verdict on two inmates deaths in Contra Costa County jails

A Contra Costa County coroner’s jury on Friday reached verdicts about the cause of death of two inmates in separate cases in Richmond’s West County Detention Facility and the Martinez Detention Facility, authorities said.
Jurors found that Levele Lee Williams, 32, of Pittsburg was killed “at the hands of another person, other than by accident,” according to Sheriff-Coroner David Livingston. Officials said Williams was assaulted by inmates and was transported to a local hospital after he complained of jaw pain. He suffered from complications during surgery and was pronounced dead on Sept. 24. ....
