On the very first day of the Gujarat Assembly’s monsoon session, the government was questioned about the ₹20,000 cr scam related to Mulasana land by the opposition. The government only replied that the special investigating team (SIT) was probing the matter.
In a deep-rooted scam dating back to 1918, the Mulasana land, given as a charity for the cow grazing on a 99-year leasehold, was bought by the scammers and the bogus documents were made for the same land by the officials and so-called leaders. This piece of agricultural land was granted the label of being NA (non-agricultural) by the then Gandhinagar collector S K Langa.
The five-day remand and arrest of Langa can be a smoke screen for providing the safe passage to some. The reports also suggest that many big names are being safeguarded in the whole scenario.
