Miffed With Twitter, Centre to Use Home-Grown Koo for Public Communication Before Tweeting FOLLOW US ON: India s microblogging platform Koo, rival to Twitter, is likely to be used by the Centre as their primary port of communication with the public, top government officials aware of the development informed News18 on condition of anonymity. Important updates, notifications and announcements will be shared 1-3 hours before on Koo and then on Twitter, said sources. This comes amid the standoff between Twitter and the Centre over the removal of several accounts related to farmers protests, who were trending the hashtag on farmers’ genocide. ....
“On email IDs, yes it was visible and we have fixed it today. In the regional market (social media), no one logs in via email. And log-in through mobile number is default. Email option was asked by corporates and we enabled it around three months ago, but it was about 4% of the total user base,” he said. Hailed to be an Indian alternative of Twitter, KOO has been co-founded by entrepreneurs Aprameya Radhakrishna and Mayank Bidwatka. The parent company is Bombinate Technologies Pvt Ltd that launched Vokal, the Indian version of Quora.
