A safe home for Christmas: 80 mistreated donkeys arrive at sanctuary

Dozens of donkeys have a safe home for Christmas this year after they were rescued from poor conditions at a farm in Wales. The equines have now been given a haven The Donkey Sanctuary in Sidmouth, Devon, after they were signed into its care. A rescue of the animals took place during the Covid pandemic back in February 2021. The operation was the largest the sanctuary had assisted with, taking 72 donkeys in one go - including 20 pregnant mares. Years of legal proceedings have now culminated in the transfer of legal ownership to The Donkey Sanctuary this week.
