TWO areas of the Halstead region have been added to the Covid hotspot map, according to the latest figures.  According to the Government's map, three parts of the Braintree district recorded three or more cases in the week to April 20. Silver End and Stisted and Flitch Green, Felsted and High Easter have both recorded three cases in the last seven days. Steeple Bumpstead and Great Yeldham has recorded a total of four cases in the same time period. OBJECTIONS have flooded in against plans to build 230 homes on part of a former golf course. Bellway Homes is seeking outline planning permission for a new development on land off Rectory Lane in Rivenhall. Part of the site was once used by the nearby golf centre and is also made up of farmland and woodland. But the scheme has been met with fierce opposition, with 41 letters of objection submitted so far.
