The stretch of highway, which is located on the Keweenaw Peninsula along Lake Superior, will be closed and detoured until sometime in July.
Traffic will be detoured along a posted route on US-41. The closure is west of the western entrance to Brockway Drive, about 10 miles from Copper Harbor.
A road closure and detour will begin next week in Keweenaw County to allow for a bridge replacement along M-26.
M-26 between Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor will be closed and detoured from April 25 until sometime in July.
While construction is ongoing, travelers will need to take US-41 as a detour, including some Eagle River residents living beyond the bridge, with some having concerns, such as tourism being driven from the town.
