The Department of Information and Communications Technology said problems may occur in the first two weeks of SIM registration, but telecommunications companies assured that they will be continuously improving their registration processes.
“As we seek to ensure public safety even in the online space, I encourage LGUs to exert all efforts to promote responsible use of SIM cards, educate their stakeholders on the benefits of mandatory SIM card registration and guide them through the whole registration process,” he said.
"They're waiting for the deadline before registering. That's why we're asking the public to register when it opens on December 27. If we have nothing important to do anyway, let's just register already, let's not wait for the deadline," he said in Filipino.
CA has given telecoms until December to enforce full compliance with its SIM card registration directive or face penalties.
