Security has been beefed up in Igboeze North and Udenu Federal Constituency of Enugu State ahead of the scheduled re-run election on Saturday, February 3.

Following the spate of kidnapping and other criminal activities in Enugu, especially in Ezike communities in Igboeze North Local Government Area of the State, the people of the area have invoked their deities and ancestors against perpetrators of the heinous acts. Enugu-Ezike, a town known for practising magic and indigenous religion, has become a home to all manner of criminals, including unknown gunmen, kidnappers, ritualists, and rapists.

The Nigeria Police Force has vowed to investigate and take necessary action against the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) House of Representatives candidate in Enugu State, Simon Atigwe. Atigwe allegedly used personnel of the Force and thugs to attack and brutalise the family members of Omeje in Aji, Enugu Ezike in the Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area of Enugu State.
