Manager at Monart Spa the latest candidate to be announced for Wexford Independent Alliance

The latest candidate to be announced for the Wexford Independent Alliance (WIA) says he will bring a strong voice to poorly represented areas in the Wexford Borough District (WBD). Confirming his intention to run for election in this summer’s locals, Castlebridge native Dave Ryan said there are large swathes of his district which have suffered since the boundaries were redrawn in 2019.

Enniscorthy's parking woes could be solved by using Waterfront carpark

The never-ending search for parking spaces in Enniscorthy continued apace in the March meeting of the municipal district as suggestions, ideas and aspirations were rebuffed and encouraged accordingly. The first potential site for parking, at least on an interim basis, was the Murphy Flood site. Councillor Cathal Byrne asked executive engineer David Whitty what would happen to the site once the existing structures were demolished.

With the number of road traffic accidents on the increase across the Wexford Borough District, Sinn Féin candidate Lorraine Smyth has called a meeting for April 7 in Barntown Community Centre during which members of the public will be invited to discuss ways to make our roads safer. Since declaring her intention to run for council earlier this year, Ms Smyth has been canvassing in the district’s villages and rural areas and says residents in these areas have some grave concerns about traffic safety.
