Amid the figures pronouncing the demise of one politician and the coronation of another, one line in The Sunday Independent’s latest ‘What Ireland Thinks’ survey stood out. It referred to the recent spate of arson attacks at proposed International Protection Accommodation Service (IPAS) centres around the country and the public’s reaction to same. That reaction was not as universal as one might assume, more nuanced than one would dare to believe.
