As the people of Rosslare Harbour continue their fight to have a nursing home built on the site of the former Great Southern Hotel, one of the district’s elected councillors has revealed why he didn’t sign a letter calling for an emergency council meeting to discuss same. The letter came on foot of a request by Deputy Verona Murphy and called upon Wexford County Council to issue injunctive proceedings against the developer who has turned the site into what is shaping up to be an International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centre.

In the aftermath of Wexford County Council’s (WCC) decision to dismiss all three motions objecting to the proposed development of an International Protection Accommodation Services (IPAS) centre in Rosslare Harbour, councillors from across the county discussed an issue which has, in the eyes of some, become a “political football” in recent weeks.

Wexford’s Holy Family Confraternity Band (HFC Concert band) will be performing in the National Opera House on Sunday, December 10 at 4 p.m. Also featuring in the concert, will be the Presentation Secondary School Choir, under the direction of Lorna Mahon.

Music from the Wexford Opera Festival Masses of 2019, the St Oliver Plunkett Mass, and the St Michael Mass from 2022, feature on a new CD which will be launched by the Rowe Street Church Choir on Friday, December 8. Taking place in the Loch Garman Band Hall, St Patrick’s Square on High Street at 7 p.m., the launch will feature guest speaker and local historian Monica Crofton.
