India News: NEW DELHI: The Centre on Saturday notified an eight-member high-level committee to examine the feasibility of holding simultaneous elections to the Lo.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal will attend the meetings of the committee as a special invitee, while Legal Affairs Secretary Niten Chandra will be secretary to the panel

Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, the Congress nominee in the one-nation-one-poll committee, has declined the position, stating that the committee was designed to reach predetermined conclusions. The Congress party had previously criticized the committee for undermining Indian democracy and excluding opposition representatives. Chowdhury also expressed concerns about the timing and feasibility of implementing the idea before the general elections.
