Health Minister Zweli Mkhize announced that 15 388 people have received their J&J COVID-19 vaccine in South Africa on Sunday evening.
South Africa is rapidly moving to protect its highly valued healthcare workers through the Sisonke Early Access Programme.
The rollout in the private sector has already commenced on 20 February and has vaccinated 3,000 healthcare workers.
