Belvidere Twp. clerk resigns after 3 months on the job
The third clerk in four months has resigned in Belvidere Township. Longtime clerk Sheila Smith resigned on Jan. 11. Ashley Gonzalez was appointed clerk on Jan. 24, but she resigned on Feb. 2 due to concerns about a possible violation of the Hatch Act, as Gonzalez works as a postal clerk for the Six Lakes Post Office.
