The top hat in place today. that's a big inverted funnel and smaller than the containment device that was tried a week or so ago. subject to getting the pipe inserted to bring the pipe to the surface, we may be able to see whether or not that solution may work. i would caution everybody that this is a leak mitigation effort. it's not intended to completely capture the oil in there, but it should substantially reduce it if it's successful and we'll have to see how that goes. british petroleum is proceeding with three lines of operation to permanently stop the leak, pending the relief well. one ...
