The Buffalo City Metro officially reopened Currie Street to traffic on Monday after it was closed for nearly a year.
Businesses in Currie Street have welcomed the second phase of Buffalo City Metro’s Sleeper Site plan to revitalise Quigney and upgrade the busy road. BCM spokesperson Samkelo Ngwenya said the road, which is set to close for eight months, would open “in stages” during the construction period once the weather permitted.
At the rate it is going, BCM will take 25 years to fix all the roads that need it -- but before they are done the ones fixed will need fixing again.
