A DDR5 module family from Smart Modular Technologies is aimed at high bandwidth, compute intensive applications including edge AI
DDR5 in RDIMMs, UDIMMs and SODIMM start at 16Gbyte Smart Modular Technologies has launched a DDR5 module family. With a 4.8 to 6.4Gbit/s data rate, DDR5 provides twice the performance of DDR4, as well as improved power efficiency through an on-DIMM 12V voltage regulator and 1.1V I/O. With a dual-channel DIMM topology for higher channel efficiency, according to Smart, it is suited to cloud computing and enterprise networking. “As an active participating member of JEDEC, Smart Modular is committed to DDR5 industry enablement and is aligned with its DRAM supplier partners to support the indust...
Brazil Paves New Semiconductor Path After failing in the fab race, the country has started focusing on less capital-intensive segments. After struggling to get its semiconductor industry off the ground for the last several years, Brazil finally may have found its place in the market with the development of IC design services, memory modules and packaging. Brazil exists well under the radar when it comes to semiconductors. But with little or no fanfare, the nation over the years has been trying to build fabs, assemble chips and develop a fabless IC design industry. Brazil has seen some modest ...
