Puducherry Assembly elections 2021: Check out dates for polling and counting of votes
Representational polls
New Delhi: Polling for 30 assembly seats in Puducherry will be held on April 6, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Friday.
Of the 30 Assembly seats, five are reserved for the Scheduled Caste candidates. The voting hour has been increased by one hour in view of COVID-19. The counting of votes will be held on May 2, the commission said.
The Congress-led government in the Union Territory fell before completing its five-year term under the Chief Minister V Naraynawamy.
Narayanasamy had resigned on February 22 ahead of a floor test in the 33-member House (including three nominated) following the resignations of five Congress and one Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) legislators. On February 23, President Ram Nath Kovind accepted the resignation of Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy and his council of ministers.

'Why can't farmers of sea have a ministry in Delhi': Rahul tells fishermen in Puducherry

New Delhi, Feb 17: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi arrived in Puducherry on Wednesday to launch party campaign in poll-bound state. The visit assumes significance given the current political situation in the state.
"The current govt is attacking small and medium businesses because they want all businesses to be controlled by big corporations. Our view is different. We want to strengthen small and medium businesses because we believe that's the strength of this country," Gandhi said at the meeting with fishermen.
"The government passed 3 Bills against farmers, the backbone of a nation. You must be wondering why am I talking about farmers at a meeting of fishermen. I consider you as farmers of the sea. If farmers of land can have a ministry in Delhi, why is it that farmers of the sea don't have the same," he added.
