Endeavour Shuttle's Twin Rocket Boosters Arrive At Exposition Park - Los Angeles, CA - The California Science Center now has all of the pieces they need to place the Endeavour Space Shuttle in a permanent "pre-launch" position.
Each Solid Rocket Motor, donated by Northrup Grumman, is over 12 feet in diameter and 116 feet in length. Each shuttle motor weighs just over 100,000 pounds.
Two iconic Solid Rocket Motors - the kind that once propelled America's famed Space Shuttles into orbit - will be displayed vertically with the shuttle Endeavour at L.A.'s California Science Center.
All of the launch components will be included in the vertical display of Endeavour at its new home in the $400 million Samuel Oschin Air and Space Center.
Hundreds of people, mostly children, lined both side of the streets outside Exposition Park waiting for the motors to turn into the California Science Center.
