The temple authorities made a notable change to shift from plastic to stainless steel. All plastic covers and plates have been replaced with their more sustainable counterparts, while even the flower offerings are now presented in small butti (baskets) instead of plastic covers. The wet waste generated, such as flowers and leaves, will be meticulously composted, contributing to a significant reduction in overall waste.

MP Tejasvi Surya and MLA Satish Reddy have shown support to the petition by providing letters of endorsement. The HSR Citizen Forum, along with the local Resident Welfare Association (RWA) and community partners, have also expressed their support through written endorsements.
Dr Shanthi Tummala, the Project Consultant at Saahas and a sustainability expert, said the objective of the project is to instill a sense of responsibility towards waste from citizens. “We are not looking at reducing the quantity of waste yet but are hoping to change the mindset of people from ‘not in my backyard’ attitude,” she said, adding that the majority of the public is often of the opinion that taking care of waste is a responsibility of the city’s municipal body.
