While the Museum of Dufferin (MOD) has been closed to visitors due to COVID-19 restrictions, the local institution is using International Museum Month to share how they’ve used online platforms to continue their work for the community. “For us, the online space is really becoming the most important way to reach people,” said Sarah Robinson, curator for the MOD. “Something that people might not think right away about a museum is to go online to find stories or check on social media to find out more about a specific family in our community. ....

To honour the month in the community, MOD has partnered with the Dufferin County Canadian Black Association (DCCBA) to launch the exhibition, called “Solidarity in My Community.” The digital exhibit displays submitted works from artists and students across Canada, showing how they see solidarity in their community. “During these unprecedented times we have witnessed the overwhelming cries to address Anti-Black Racism, Systemic Discrimination and Social Justice Reform worldwide following the death of George Floyd,” read the description for the exhibit. ....

The juried photography and art exhibition is taking place online and those looking to enter can apply at: https://www.dufferinmuseum.com/bhm/ and find out more about the competition. There is no fee to enter the show and the theme is “Solidarity in My Community.” The theme stems from the “overwhelming cries to address anti-black racism, systemic discrimination and social justice reform worldwide following the death of George Floyd,” according to the Museum of Dufferin’s website. ....
The Museum of Dufferin is collecting photography reflecting the theme of “Solidarity in my Community”.
