Soul Food Sisters in happier times pre-Covid A GROUP of migrant women have overcome the odds to provide almost 1000 meals to those in need over the festive period. Soul Food Sisters, a catering social enterprise based in the Gallowgate, gave out the first of many home cooked meals to vulnerable people at the Salvation Army’s Wallace of Campsie Lifehouse. The organisation has been working hard to provide meals, despite being hit hard by the Covid-19 pandemic. The collective has been kept going by donations of time and money to keep them afloat throughout this time. Djamila Siagh, from Soul Food Sisters said:“Without regular income, this has been the most challenging time in Soul Food Sisters’ history. Our mission is to bring joy through food, to connect women and communities, and to support Glasgow’s migrant community - but we’ve really struggled to do this while facing cancelled contracts and repeated lockdowns.”
