On Wednesday, in the morning, at the Royal Flying Doctor Service Mobile Dental Unit, Springsure, Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM and Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff.

Following, at the Springsure Multipurpose Health Service, Springsure, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo received a briefing on operations, toured the facility and met with staff and patients.

Following, at the Springsure Golf Club, Springsure, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo attended the Springsure State School Inter-School Cross Country Meet, where they met with staff and students.

Following, at the Central Highlands Regional Gallery, Springsure, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo toured the Annual Art Awards.

In the afternoon, at the Central Highlands Regional Library, Springsure, Her Excellency and Professor Nimmo met the librarian and toured the facility.

In the evening, Her Excellency and Professor Graeme Nimmo returned to Government House from Official travel to Banana Shire Council and Central Highlands Regional Council.

Community members and past residents travelled from near and far to celebrate 100 years of the Springsure Ambulance Service on Saturday, May 22.
Myra Stanton travelled from Emerald in a last minute decision to attend the commemorative event.
Much to her surprise, Ms Stanton found the documentation of her father’s (Des Cahill) birth in an old history book on display.
“I was just looking through these books, flipped through to 1932 and the date and I saw where my dad’s aunty has rang the ambulance to pick up his mother to bring her to hospital to be born. I was just so excited,” she said.

Mother's Day fun run supports CQ's life saving organisations

Take in the scenic views through Minerva Hills National Park while fundraising for life saving services in Central Queensland at the annual Springsure Mountain Challenge.
Volunteers are excited to have the fun run back in 2021 after having to cancel last year due to coronavirus restrictions.
Volunteer Mindy Durdin said the Mother’s Day run raised much needed funds for Central Queensland beneficiaries, with 2021 funds going to Springsure Ivy Anderson Home and RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue.
“The event is all about giving back to our communities, to those organisations that provide lifesaving, essential services to rural Queensland, while focusing on active, healthy wellbeing and community participation,” she said.
