Duke Energy Indiana has completed upgrades to three hydroelectric turbines, generators and other equipment at its Markland Hydroelectric Station near Florence, Ind., increasing the facility’s clean, renewable energy output by about 10% and bolstering its ability to reliably serve customers for the next 40 years.
A small modular reactor could be used to power Purdue University’s campus in Indiana in the USA, depending on the result of joint studies with energy giant Duke about the feasibility of the idea.
The exploration plan is slated to begin in the coming weeks and includes a series of meetings and joint studies.
