Good morning to you. good morning. thank you for having me. it s great to have you. you hate common core and it took a lot of courage for you to get in front of your school board there in knox county, tennessee. why did you do it? well, i do dislike common core. i think for me, the opportunity was open. there were a lot of teachers at my school and in the county that were rallying to talk about teacher evaluations. i felt that as a student, i might sign up and contribute something from a student s perspective about some problems with common core and teacher evaluations. i understand you started getting turned of a in 7th grade because everyone keeps teaching for the test. absolutely. so in 7th grade i noticed problems with the t cap, which is our state assessment program. really since then i ve been paying attention to what happens in education. i really feel like the biggest problem that we face is just the standardization across the board and also trying to quantify everyth ....

Oh, that s awful. but they kept plugging away. and the 123 enrollees in the first month became 2,000 people by the end of the second month. by the end of the third month, they were up to 5,000 people. and it kept going. there were definitely glitches along the way. the website didn t work very well at first. they had to keep tweaking the law. they changed certain rules about what benefits had to be covered. at one point, they even had to change the way that massachusetts businesses were allowed to count their number of employees. the legislature went back and did a really big fix, pretty wide-reaching, about medical billing and other stuff related to costs and standardization across the state. there were a bunch of different fixes they had to do in order to make it work. but they kept making those fixes and they kept plugging away and kept making improvements where they found problems. and those terrible, terrible initial enrollment numbers rose over time. ....

To take home and like milk. this says sell by monday, september 23rd. well, that milk, you can take it home and you can consume it for the rest of the week because it will still be good, but people think that sell by means it s bad after that date and a lot of food gets wasted that day. people toss it immediately. what a great marketing device for food manufacturers. if you want to sell more milk, get people to throw out more milk. right. and that s why there is no some of these sell by dates, they can differ. some people some companies might put that date seven days from now. some might put it ten days. so there s no standardization. some of these things are fine because they ll say quality best if used by, but any of these use by dates or sell by dates, they have nothing to do with food safety. so if you re the consumer and you see a sandwich or milk that says use by or sell by a certain date, how do you know if it s safe to eat? well, it will be safe assume ....
