Not so fast - Barbados Today

The island’s healthcare system was disrupted Monday as more than 100 nurses took industrial action in a stand against Government’s controversial COVID-19 Safe Zones Policy. However, Minister of Health and Wellness Lt Col Jeffrey Bostic said a memo informing nurses the policy was taking effect had been sent prematurely.The Ministry of Health announced earlier in the day that the St Philip Polyclinic in Six Roads, St Philip could only cater to persons with emergencies and those requiring dressings. Additionally, the Glebe Polyclinic in St George only accommodated emergencies, while the administration of COVID-19 vaccines at Sharon Moravian Church Hall in St Thomas was cancelled and persons who planned to go there were advised to visit the Eunice Gibson Polyclinic in Warrens, St Michael, to get their shots.When contacted, Minister Bostic told Barbados TODAY he was “aware of nurses reporting sick” and confirmed that “a number of polyclinics have been impacted” by their action. ....
