The government on Friday said the production-linked scheme (PLI) for large scale electronics manufacturing (including mobiles) has seen investments worth Rs 6,887 crore (till June 2023), already surpassing the target for FY24 which was Rs 5,488 crore.
Domestic Electronic Manufacturing: "As a result of several initiatives taken by the Government and efforts of the industry, the domestic production of electronic goods has increased substantially from Rs 3.88 lakh crore (USD 60 Billion) in 2017-18 to Rs 8.25 lakh crore in 2022-23 (USD 101.9 billion) at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 16.28 per cent," the minister said.
It is important for the world to see India emerge as a trusted, resilient partner in the electronics and semiconductor space, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said here on Saturday, and asserted the world wants to partner with India for the country to grow its footprints in the semiconductor ecosystem. Talking to PTI on the sidelines of the Semicon India 2023 event organised at Mahatma Mandir here, he said Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for the sector is to create more and more opportunities for young Indians studying in colleges.
Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Rajeev Chandrasekhar in a writtten reply to the Rajya Sabha said that till date only one proposal of Micron Technology Inc for setting up a semiconductor ATMP unit in India with a capital investment of Rs 22,516 crore ($2.75 Billion) has been approved.
Dukaan: Attributing the decision to prioritising profitability, he said customer support costs reduced by 85 per cent while resolution time went down from over two hours to three minutes.
