CARTHAGE, Mo. — A new monument to the American Civil War and the hardship it caused in Carthage and Jasper County was dedicated Friday afternoon in Carthage’s Central Park.
Marine veteran Mark Thieme, who served 35 years and reached the rank of colonel, will lead the new Florida organization.
The organization, which has struggled to get off the ground, gets its third leader in the last year.
