PHOENIX - As another school year, albeit unusual, comes to a close, hope is rising on the horizon. And just as spring offers the emergence of new beginnings, accomplishments still

  Paton Churdan traveled to Madrid for their Class 1A state track qualifying meet. Danielle Hoyel gave the Rockets two tickets to the state track meet. Hoyle won the shot put with a throw of 40-03.00 and the discus with a throw of 133.07.00. Hoyle will compete at state in the throwing events on Thursday and Friday. Shot put will begin at 3:30 pm on Thursday, and discus at 3:00 pm on Friday.    

Twin Cedars will try to put some blue on the Blue Oval when the Sabers head to Madrid for the class 1A track and field State Qualifier tonight. Three running events have the Sabers hopeful for some qualifiers this season. Rylee Dunkin is 2nd right now in the 400, and she is also ranked first in the 800. Cheyenne Bruns is 3rd in the 400 and is ranked 4th in the 400 hurdles. Coach Cam Parker tells KNIA/KRLS Sports Bruns has had a great season so far, and it would be special for her to make state.

The Knoxville Track and Field Squads head to Pella for the class 3A State Qualifier today. The young Panther girls are looking forward to today’s meet with goals of qualifying for the Blue Oval. Coach Michael Splavec tells KNIA/KRLS Sports they have steadily improved this season. The boys also hope to get several events and individuals to the State Meet. Kieren Nichols is in the hunt for three events, the 100, 200, and 400 meter dashes, while the Panthers’ 4×400 meter relay, another event Nichols is in, is ranked 2nd going into tonight’s action.
