I've been wanting to poke around this story ever since the Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara Nation made such an impressive step forward in February 2020, establishing a young herd of bighorn sheep that can hopefully develop over years into a healthy bighorn community that can flourish in prairie areas that have not been their "stomping" grounds for hundreds of years. Great Falls angler lands state record longnose sucker GREAT FALLS – For the fifth time in less than a year, Montana will add a new state record fish to its books. The latest fish is a longnose sucker from the Missouri River caught on March 26. Weighing in at 3.42 pounds, the 20.1-inch sucker was landed by Jacob Bernhardt of Great Falls while fishing in Cascade County. He hooked the brown trout at Marias River, in the northwest corner of the state. The fish, which was verified by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks, weighed in at a whopping 32.43 pounds. North Carolina Channel Catfish State Record Broken RALEIGH, N.C. – It took 50 years and one ounce to break the current state record for a channel catfish, but John Stone, of Pinehurst, now holds the new record after catching a 23-pound, 5-ounce catfish from a private pond in Moore County last September.
