Pleading With Nigerian Government To Release Me Is An Insult — Detained IPOB Leader, Nnamdi Kanu

The detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has said he will no longer beg the Nigerian Government for his release after being cleared by Justice Binta Nyako of a Federal High Court in Abuja. In a letter dated August 25, 2023, and signed by Kanu’s lead counsel, Mike Ozekhome, SAN, made available to newsmen on Monday, the legal practitioner bemoaned the deplorable condition of Kanu’s detention facility in the custody of the Department of State Services.

IPOB Accuses Nigerian Supreme Court Of Backing Nnamdi Kanu's Detention, Demands Immediate Hearing Of Case

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has accused Nigerian apex court, the Supreme Court of backing the detention of its (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, at the Department of State Services (DSS) custody in Abuja by the Nigerian government, by failing to set a date to hear the government’s appeal against the Court of Appeal’s judgment that discharged and acquitted Kanu. IPOB on Tuesday in a statement by its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, said that in Kanu’s case, the Supreme Court has decided to disobey its rules that provide for accelerated hearing of cases.
