Hey, reynolds. >> reporter: the remanence of bonnie moving onshore and thankfully is beginning to die out. it could have been a major hurricane if it had enough time and the atmospheric conditions been different, and a lot of ships were pulled into safe harbor, and now they will work their way back. the driller started its way back in parts of the gulf to resume its work. that work is not something that can happen instantly. what they are doing is laying out the instruments in the next couple days before they get back to work. and they have a lot to do. they are dealing with static

And officials are saying it may be friday before they can start the first of the two processes to finally seal that well. that is called a static kill -- the first process where they try to jam mud and cement into the top of the well. at the same time, drilling the relief well which goes below and seals it from below. as to the effects of what remained in terms of wind and waves, we're waiting to see whether any oil was washed ashore, particularly in louisiana where the bulk of the oil on the surface is closest and, of course, the marshes there are of such concern. but emergency managers will ...
