City administration is proposing to reduce the speed limits on downtown streets as a means of increasing driver and pedestrian safety. The proposal calls for reducing the speed limit on Second and Fourth avenues from 50 kilometres an hour to 40 km/h, and on all sidestreets from 50 km/h to 30 km/h. The proposal will be presented to city council early in the new year.
