Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko praised Belarusian farmers twice this week and suggested scaling up this form of farming, including by transferring additional farmland to farmers.

The more personal achievements we have, the stronger our Belarus is, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he presented state awards on 12 September. “Today, in the run-up to Day of People's Unity, we are honoring hardworking people committed to their country,” the head of state said.
The Order of the Fatherland 3rd Class has been conferred on Andrei Gurinovich, Head of the Medical Unit (Special Purpose) of the State Institution “432 Order of Red Star Main Military Clinical Medical Center of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Belarus”, and Pavel Kharchenko, Head of the 14th Border Guard Unit of the Border Service.
The official pointed out that while talking about economic matters it is necessary to focus on real figures instead of nominal ones. “Let's say, the interest rate on a loan stands at 10%. The rate is different if we add inflation to it. If, for instance, inflation is 5%, then respectively the real interest rate on the loan turns out to be 5%."
